High Fructose Corn Syrup (HFCS): The Invisible Sugar Trap
High Fructose Corn Syrup (HFCS), in German Fructose-Glucose Syrup, is an industrially produced sugar substitute that is particularly widespread in the USA. It is derived from corn starch and contains varying amounts of fructose depending on the type (usually between 42% and 55%). Due to its sweetness and low production costs, it is a popular ingredient in soft drinks, baked goods, ready-made meals, and even products marketed as "healthy". Read more...

Why reducing sugar is like going through withdrawal
Sugar is addictive—that’s a fact. Sugar stimulates the brain’s reward system, causing dopamine to be released.  I used to eat sugar constantly myself, both consciously and unconsciously. Sugar is now found in 90% of all industrially manufactured products. This means that we all consume far too much sugar, with all the consequences that entails. Unfortunately, sugar has not a single positive effect on the body.  So why go through withdrawal?A long time ago, I decided to ban sugar from my life. Assuming it couldn’t be that difficult, I went into this adventure... Read more...
